A YouTuber’s Concise Guide to Libraries

You don’t have to be a YouTuber for this video to be useful to you, but if you ARE one, set down everything and watch this RIGHT NOW because it is TIME to take your content and channel to the NEXT LEVEL. This video talks about 5 things that you as a YouTuber should be using your libraries for:

  1. Space & equipment
  2. Access to the latest research
  3. Reference services
  4. Classes
  5. Bonus things

Reference Services pro-tip

Email first! Even though librarians tend to be underappreciated by society at large, patrons who DO understand their value keep them pretty busy. Just like with co-workers or professors, emailing a librarian gives them time to sit and think about what you’re asking, and serve you best.

Keep your email short and to the point, and don’t feel like you have to know exactly what you’re looking for. At the same time, don’t be afraid to ask if you can come in to talk to them, if that’s what works best for you — it still gives them a chance to do some legwork before you get there. Your librarian will thank you, and you will thank me. You’re welcome in advance.
